The Chronicle reported a "Building Boom" at Maroochydore in its edition of the 18th February 1916 (p. 7):
"On the Cotton Tree estate Mr Pitman was the first to get to work, near the well known tree, while Mr Newton has the nucleus of a house on his ocean front allotment. Mr. A. McFadden is starting on an allotment near Cornmeal Creek, and on the adjoining allotment, Mr. J Milton (?) of Yandina is building. We have been shown some pretty plans of a hotel contemplated by Mr. L. H. Collins on the top-price block near the wharves. Mr. T. O'Connor's house at Alexandra Headland is complete, and is a nice addition to that most promising Realty."
