This photo hung in the Maroochydore SLSC clubhouse until the 1970s. It was very meaningful to the club members in pre 1950s' times...because it was like a world championship win for them...to become the Premier Swimming Club of Queensland in 1930-31 season.
Knowing now the history of lifesaving prior to State Centre formation in 1931; how the local swimming club 'supplied' patrolling lifesavers to the beach clubs in those pre-State Centre times; and in particular our club's role in the RLSSQ last stand on the beaches of the North Coast; although this Maroochy Amateur Swimming Club was based in Walsh's Pond in Petrie Creek, it was to these men, a very important part of the history of the Maroochydore SLSC.
