The Chronicle  17/3/1916 (p. 5):

"A meeting was held in Mr Hubert Wells' residence on Monday the 13th inst., to consider the advisability of forming a branch of the Royal Life Saving Society at Bli Bli. Mr.  Hubert Wells presided. A large number of Bli Bli residents were in the Maroochy River Club, and they found it very inconvenient to attend the meetings.

"It was therefore decided to have a separate club, to be called the Bli Bli Branch of the Royal Life Saving Society.

"The following team was picked to compete in the Barry Cup Competition to be held in Brisbane on April 3rd. Messrs. H. Hannus (capt), M. H. Wells, O' Anderson, M. Espin, and H. F. Weston. These members will also take part in other events at the Carnival."
